Unlicensed medicines and supply for market shortages

A core part of our business is the export of unlicensed medicines. These are medicines which are licensed in their country of manufacture (such as the UK), but are not licensed in the importing country.

Allowing pharmacies and clinicians around the world to supply their patients with the medicines they urgently need. This could be a one-off shipment or a regular delivery of several containers.

We can also supply bespoke and specially prepared medicines which have been prescribed by a doctor or pharmacist when a licensed product is not available. As part of our service, you will be allocated a dedicated Account Team available to answer any specific questions you may have and who will monitor your requirements from the first point of contact to despatch.

Managed access and named patient supply

CHAPPER healthcare has over 40 years’ experience in managing the supply of named patient medicines.

The supply of unlicensed medicines is highly regulated. However, in certain circumstances they can be supplied on a ‘named-patient’ basis:

• If the product has yet to gain a licence for use in a specific disease area;
• If the product has yet to be licensed by the regulatory body;
• If the product is used to treat a rare disorder, often classified as an orphan drug.

We are able to offer tailored named-patient programmes, to meet the needs of all of our clients, utilising our infrastructure and knowledge employed throughout our pharmacy wholesale business.

Due to our long-established relationships with leading pharmaceutical suppliers, we are in a very strong position when it comes to supplying medicines, even highly restricted ones, on a named-patient basis.

The sourcing of drugs for clinical trials, whether as comparators or otherwise, can be a time-consuming and difficult process.
